Siblings Time- June 8, 2011

Yesterday we had a chance to get together with some of my siblings. Ernie's daughter, Lori is visiting from Arizona so she brought Ernie and Beatsie up to Medford for the day. Carol was with us for lunch at Happy Joe's , but had to go home as her breathing was bad that day. Ernie is putting one of his hearing aids into Lucille's ear so she can hear better! How else do elderly people entertain themselves? Lucille is 82 years old and still lives in her home--way to go Lucy!

Beatsie is the eldest of our family and she turned 90 last December. She also still lives in her home by herself, but Donna and Cindy check on her every day. I wish I would have put her fancy cane closer to her. It is very fancy and colorful to say the least.

Here is the master of the bunch, Ernie. Again playing with his hearing aid! We had four brothers and he is the only one left. His condition of Alzheimers is about the same as in November. He has restrictions on his drivers license now. Only daylight hours and not more than 30 miles from his home, he tends to get lost. He lives in his home yet too, but has help every day for shopping and cleaning or whatever needs to be done. Oh yeah, he still loves his beer too! If you are every with him at 5:00 PM, he yells, "It's five o'clock and it's tea time!" What a silly guy. Keep on going, Ernie--we love you! He is 87 years old now.

Last of all , we have Katie! Most of you know her in the kitchen feeding everyone just like our Mother did! Kate will be 89 in July and still taking of her own home also. She planted her garden last week after taking one year off last year due to the stroke she had in May, 2010. We had to hunt for her shoes so she could go to Happy Joe's to eat! That woman never has her shoes on when she is at home. All winter long there she is barefoot! That is it for our visit. We talked about old times and solved all the world problems and of course got the hearing aids back in the right place. Thank God Ernie doesn't want to try to fit someone with his false teeth! Man, that would be gross! Now I want everyone reading this to spend quality time with your family too. Cherish each day. You never get another chance at it. This is the day the Lord has made, let's be glad and rejoice in it!
