June, the month for brides and bridal wreaths

Oh, how I miss my flowers from the farm. This grand lady bloomed like this every year on the corner of our house. I could see her peeking in my kitchen window every day. I always dug a hole under her and set out my Christmas cactus around Memorial Day. One year I checked on my cactus and found that someone had mowed it off even with the top of the pot. Never did find out who the helpful person was that did it. Of course who would think that there was a plant hiding under there? The cactus did bounce back, but it took several years before she bloomed.

Veterans in action-Memorial Day

This picture was taken in 2007 when the VFW took part in an event at Black River Industries. Dad and Clarence Glamann presenting the colors. Since this photo , Clarence has passed on, so this one is quite special to us.

Rice Lake, Wisconsin

I took this picture a couple years ago when this cemetary was dedicated. It is for any veteran and his/her spouse to be buried. Dad and his friend, Jerrry Zastrow wanted the picture of the stone you see as you enter the park.

Old Glory on the millpond

Friday morning at 8;00Am the crew was there to put the flags up for all of us to admire. Stop for a pause---The man on here is Jim Gehrig, one of Dad's Honor-guard team.

Memorial Day

This picture was taken when we had Mr. Kelly bring his class to help put up the flags on the veterans graves.

Grandpa Alfred & Grandma Maude

Since it was a wedding week-end, I thought I would slip this one in. I don't know if any of you have ever seen this photo. I found it in Sister's tub of pix. We figured out it was taken at Glen and Eileen's wedding. Some of the people in the back ground are from Eileen's family. Back in those days, the ladies always wore little hats to church. Sister said she still has a couple from Grandma Emmerich and Grandma Dodge!! Now they have to collectors items, wouldn't you say? Looks like the dinner must have been good by the looks of those smiles. This is one of Dad's favorite pictures on our slide show here on the computer. I just looked at the picture again--maybe they did not eat yet!! The wedding cake is not cut!
