Happy Birthday Lorin, August 21,2009

Lorin and his wheels. The boys spent many hours working on this thing so they could ride around the yard. Do you think they could get a patent on it and market a bunch of them??
Ask Lorin about his van--I'm sure he has a story or two to tell about this beauty!!

Lorin and Julee's wedding day. This is one of my favorite pictures. I like the way Julee had the flowers mounted around them. This marriage bloomed into a great forever.I remember at the wedding, Father Dennis said that God had plans for them even before they were born, that they would meet and marry someday. Yep, they did that, didn't they? Funny how some things like that stay in our minds- I just thought it was such a special thing to tell the young couple on their wedding day.

Grahl Park-August 14,2009

Last Friday Tim called and we went to County Market and picked up a bunch of Brats and chips and headed for Grahl Park to eat our supper. Chad and Jacki met us, so we got to visit with them. Lily and Peyton had so much fun on the playground there.
Lily doesn't like the sun in her eyes!!

Peyton says, "Gramma Emmerich, watch me climb up here." Ok, little monkey, show me. He starts at the bottom---how does he reach that far??
Up he goes, I don't know how those feet stay on such little steps--you are almost there, Peyton, keep going--
He made it!!! Of course he had to do it again and again, it took Gramma a couple shots to catch him on the final jump into the cage at the top. He loved it!! What a nice way to spend a couple hours on a quiet summer evening. Thanks guys!!

Vacation Bible School-2009

We started getting ready last Sunday, August 2, 2009. Charli and I were ushers that day so Lily and Peyton helped us. They handed out the bulletins for us. I had Peyton help with the offering too. When he was handed the plate with all the cash, his eyes nearly popped out of his head!! I grabbed it real quick! I will never forget that look on his face. Makes me smile to think of it.
Lily says,"Aren't you glad you have a helper, Gramma Emmerich?" She is good at shaking hands and holding the door open for the ladies, too.
Chad was there to sign the kids up for Bible School, so he got to eat with all those little people. There were 75 kids in all.
This was the last day. The kids helped Pastor Pete lead worship that evening. Peyton is doing some kind of dance out front of the other kids--what a little ham he is.
Here they are acting out a song with all the motions. Look, none of them are doing the same thing!! Cute!!! I had to do two blogs to get all the pictures in, so scan down to see the last part.

Vacation Bible School-2009

Lily took a break and came to sit with us for a while.
The kids are dancing and marching in the light of God. Peyton on the far right. Pastor Pete is off to the left, playing his guitar.

Peyton and his little friend, dancing down the center aisle of church. I think he is spinning her around.
Emily joined us to see what the kids learned this week . After the grand finale, we all went to the fellowship hall for ice cream sundaes.
This is Gizmo. He was with the kids all week helping them learn about Jesus and playing games with them. What fun they had!! They just love Pastor Pete and his guitar music.

Happy Birthday Tonya

Happy Birthday to a sweet gal, Tonya. This is her 1st birthday picture. Cute little ruffle butt!! Do you remember what I always told you ,Tonya, when more grandbabies came along? You would climb up on my lap and I would whisper in your ear,"You are special because you were our VERY FIRST grandchild." You would snuggle down and be happy.
All dressed up for a special day. Happy Birthday . We love you and miss you----Gramma Rita

Thanks to our troops over there!!

I finally got a box ready to go to Gary over in Afghanistan. I've been wanting to do this for weeks, but things kept popping up, now it is time. The post office has these boxes called,"Flat rate- so I brought one home. I baked Christmas cookies in July for church and hid some in the freezer or Dad would have munched them up. Melissa asked me to send him a prayer shawl, I call them "Angel hugs". Found a dark green one for Gary to wrap around his shoulders when he needs a hug.
Of course in Wisconsin, you need a few "Cow Tales." I don't know what people from Arizona like.
I had room left so---make oatmeal fudgies--give the man his chocolate and he is happy. Of course some of Deb's Country magazines and Dad came along with a couple VFW books too. The little green packages on the right are teeth cleaners!!! Gotta pick out the coconut from the candy. Does this look like something a guy would like to receive at mail-call, Melissa? I hope so because it is on the way to Afghanistan today!!
I had no idea I had to give so much info to send this out, but it is worth it. Ok, now it is ready. Get to the post office yet today so the man can enjoy it!! Stay safe, Gary--we are proud of you.

Bruce's Birthday--July 31, 2009

We did get up to Phillips to see Bruce and Pam last Friday on his 56th birthday. He is ready to cut up his cake, while we all were singing,"Happy Birthday."
Sis and Dean rode along with us, and Earl and Joanne drove over too, so we had a gang of Emmerichs. I should have waited for Uncle Earl, I think he was playing a machine.

Sorry, Patti--I thought I waited for you to swallow before I snapped. Hey, Chris, why do you look so surprised??

It's okay, Julee, your food is coming!! Dean dressed Hawaiian - guess he thought it was a luau. He said he can ride along with the old folks now since he is semi-retired!!

Happy Birthday, Son (our # one) We love you!!
