Vacation Bible School-2009
We started getting ready last Sunday, August 2, 2009. Charli and I were ushers that day so Lily and Peyton helped us. They handed out the bulletins for us. I had Peyton help with the offering too. When he was handed the plate with all the cash, his eyes nearly popped out of his head!! I grabbed it real quick! I will never forget that look on his face. Makes me smile to think of it.
Lily says,"Aren't you glad you have a helper, Gramma Emmerich?" She is good at shaking hands and holding the door open for the ladies, too.
Chad was there to sign the kids up for Bible School, so he got to eat with all those little people. There were 75 kids in all.

Vacation Bible School-2009
Lily took a break and came to sit with us for a while.
The kids are dancing and marching in the light of God. Peyton on the far right. Pastor Pete is off to the left, playing his guitar.
Peyton and his little friend, dancing down the center aisle of church. I think he is spinning her around.

Thanks to our troops over there!!
I finally got a box ready to go to Gary over in Afghanistan. I've been wanting to do this for weeks, but things kept popping up, now it is time. The post office has these boxes called,"Flat rate- so I brought one home. I baked Christmas cookies in July for church and hid some in the freezer or Dad would have munched them up.
Melissa asked me to send him a prayer shawl, I call them "Angel hugs". Found a dark green one for Gary to wrap around his shoulders when he needs a hug.
Of course in Wisconsin, you need a few "Cow Tales." I don't know what people from Arizona like.
I had room left so---make oatmeal fudgies--give the man his chocolate and he is happy. Of course some of Deb's Country magazines and Dad came along with a couple VFW books too. The little green packages on the right are teeth cleaners!!! Gotta pick out the coconut from the candy. Does this look like something a guy would like to receive at mail-call, Melissa? I hope so because it is on the way to Afghanistan today!!August 4, 2009

Bruce's Birthday--July 31, 2009
We did get up to Phillips to see Bruce and Pam last Friday on his 56th birthday. He is ready to cut up his cake, while we all were singing,"Happy Birthday."
Sis and Dean rode along with us, and Earl and Joanne drove over too, so we had a gang of Emmerichs. I should have waited for Uncle Earl, I think he was playing a machine.
Sorry, Patti--I thought I waited for you to swallow before I snapped. Hey, Chris, why do you look so surprised??
