December 25, 2009 - Our Christmas Baby

Oh, yes, Julie was born on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1963. Dad had taken the rest of the family to Grandma Emmerich's for dinner while I stayed home and waited for Julie to make her appearance. It was 6:00 pm when she finally got here. Dr. Meyer bawled me out for making him miss his big Christmas dinner with his family.

Here she is about a freshman I think because she is wearing her braces. Remember what I always told you, Jules? "You better smile that $2000.00 smile!" I wonder what braces cost in this day--Brush 'em! floss 'em!!!

Here is Graduation Day for Jules. I remember she had a stack of shirts - she couldn't deciede which one to wear that day. I like the blue flowery one she picked. Happy Birthday to you, Jules--We love you--Mom & Dad-- Scan down-more

Paul's Birthday - December 27, 2009

Paul's kindergarten picture. Guess he didn't want to smile here--He was fitted with glasses a year later. He looks so shy on here, what a blondie!!!

Now he is a freshman in high school--got the glasses and of course the lovely braces. We drove lots of miles to Marshfield during that process but it was worth it!!! We got our moneys worth when we bought glasses those days- they were so big then!!!

Graduation Day for Paul--Then off he went to school in Wyoming . Him and Rusty have lots of stories to tell of that adventure, ask him sometime--Happy Birthday, Paul--scan down , there's more--

Double Birthday Wishes - Paul and Jules

This was taken on the day that we had Paul and Julie baptized. Julie clung to her little Baptism napkin nearly all day.

This is the only picture we have of Julie as a baby. We were living on the Lemke farm at the time. She is about eighteen months old on here.

They spent lots of time playing in the snow, now Julie hates the cold and Paul still can be found outside in the woods tramping around. Here Paul is wearing the black coat, (hence the name Bear) that Myrtle Emmerich gave us . She made it for Jay- when he outgrew his clothes, she brought them to us.

Paul's baby picture at one year old. We sure did not put much effort in doing pictures in the olden days!!! Sorry kids, if I could go back in time I would change that!! Happy Birthday to both of you!! Love from Mom

December 23, 2009-Christmas

We really need to remember the reason for this season, and here it is- The birth of our Christ Child, Jesus
Here is our Christmas tree, all light up and full of cardinals, my favorite birds.
I always did love Old World Santas, they are easier on the eyes instead of the bright red ones.

Lots and lots of Christmas greeting cards this year again, and no two alike!! I am one of the few that reads all the verses inside--do you read the verses?? What great messages the carry to us. Do you reconize the light switch on our kitchen wall?? We had that in the porch at the farm- It says "God Bless our Home." Merry Christmas to all--

Dec. 17,2009---Visitors Here!!!

This little fat squirrel comes climbing right up our brick wall and peeps in our living room window. I call him Tom, because he is a peeping Tom here at the apartments. He was sitting on his hind legs, but I missed that shot-darn!!
Today Tracy and Felicity were here so Grandpa had to play music for her. Of course she wanted to help. Ok, you poke your finger right here first, right Gramps? Notice the pointer on her right hand is ready too.
Come on now, Grampa, I want to try this side. Get ready to squeeze that thing!! Which one should I punch first? A-one, a-two, here we go---Roll out the barrel!!!

Happy Birthday Jake-December 13,2009

It was twenty seven years ago that we first got to see our first grandson. He was pushed down into a big fuzzy red Christmas stocking in the hospital nursery. Grandpa always said that we need to name our first grandson Jacob Emmerich. Little did we know that Sue and Dean would carry out the wish!! Thanks for giving us a wonderful caring link to the past. Hope you had a good and Happy Birthday, Jake - we love you--Gramps and Gram

Dec. 10, 2009- Christmas Goodies

This recipe I found a couple weeks ago in my Mom's recipe box. They are Cheerio bars with coconut inside and chocolate chips on top. No calories--ha ha--
I gaven't made these for years. You buy this bag of puffy corn stuff and saturate it with sugars and butter--oh, yeah. Are you ready yet?
Then out comes the old Betty Crocker cook-book that I raised my kids on. Now where is that recipe?? I can't find Christmas stollen in here?? I'm sure it is here. Okay, look in the index- a ha! here in the s's for "stollen". I didn't put all the citrus fruit in tho'. I used some raisins and dried cranberries instead. Coming up next---fruit cake anyone???? Why am I doing all these old foods? Because they were in the good old days, that's why!!! Memories----Ahhh, life is good!!!

Dean's Birthday- Nov. 28,2009

Dean wanted to join the Army like Dad and Bruce did. I talked him into joining the National Guard instead-- I didn't want two sons away from home!! What a handsome guy in uniform!
This was on July 4. The guys had been out baling hay all day and he was too pooped to get off the tractor. He actualy ate his meal right there on the tractor.

Dean was one year old here. He was hanging onto the little fuzzy dog because you could wind up , it would walk, then it would stop and flip over!! Happy Birthday, Son-- sorry this post got late today.

Happy Birthday Pam - Nov. 25, 2009

Taken in March, 1972 at Earl's Bar. Do you think these two will empty that pitcher of beer by themselves?? Looks like Dad has control of it!!! Check out the pigtails on this gal--
Pam and Bruce will also celebrate their wedding anniversary on Nov. 30, so wish them a Happy Anniversary too at the Big Elk!!!

Besides keeping busy with the bar and working at the nursing home, you can find these two spending quality time with the grandkids, Bruce calls them "Rugrats". Happy Anniversary to both of you, Pam and Bruce---

It's Kari's Birthday - November 23, 2009

In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it!! Easter, 1991- Does anyone wear Easter bonnets anymore? I wish they would come back, Kari looks good in her hat.
Yes, she does!! She has a different hat this time. This is Father's Day, 1996 taken at a picnic at Mondeax Dam. Now those were the good old days, having all the little grandkids along on a picnic. Can we turn back the clock???--no more glasses????

Here is Kari at Patti and Chris' home on Larson Drive down in the den. Of course Jon is there on her right side, so she's growing up here.
Graduation Day for Kari Poyda . Welcome to the real world, Kari!! Have a Happy Birthday and let the kids sing loud and clear for you!!!
