Happy Easter--2010

Our church was all decked out so pretty, I had my camera along when we filled candles yesterday. I just had to snap a few pictures to capture to moment. Christ has risen indeed!!
Back in the narthex another cross with Easter lilies. I like the windows in the back ground on this one.
Close-up of Lily
The alter had lilies all around too. I think there were twenty five plants up there and more back in the narthex. So beautiful , Mother Nature at work on the Lord's Day.

Uncle Ernie visit-September,2009

Last fall my brother, Ernie came to Medford to visit with us. His daughter, Lori was here from Arizona and she drove his car up here to see the family. She had not been to Medford since our mother's funeral so things have changed a lot. Here are Ken, Rita, Ernie and Kathryn, taken in the living room at Kathy's home.
Okay, take Rita out and put Lori in and this what you get. She said,"You notice that I'm holding Uncle Kenny's hand." Yeah, Lori, you are one of his favorites!! When we visited her in Arizona in 2001, Ken and I stayed at Lori's home for a couple days while Roger, Sue, and Sister went to California. Since then she lost her husband Russ, so now she is alone. A strong lady, that one is!!
"No, Dad we can't go out to Aunt Lucille's now we have to be by Wayne and Elaine's for supper." My brother is advancing into alzhiemers so he doesn't always keep up with what is really going on now. Last summer he drove to Medford alone and got lost for 2 hours. Now he just drove here in March and got lost again- ended up in Owen/Withee. Some farmer got him on the right road to Medford. How do you tell a person he should not drive?? How can such a thing be happening to someone we love?? How can a person be robbed of their memory by such an agressive robber as alzheimers?? Sad, sad!!!!

Farewell to the 723rd Sapper Company

Our Medford National Guard Unit
assembled last Saturday to say farewell to the community. They were honored with a ceremony with the gym being packed. As we entered the hall, we were handed an American flag- this little girl just kept hers flying high. The unit will be leaving Medford this week for their second tour to Iraq. They all marched in and stood there through the program. I asked my Army guy ,"How can they stand like that without moving a muscle?" He assured me that they are in top shape and they are young yet!

After the program , they all marched back outside. When I looked at those faces, some looked about 14 years old, some had greying hair, and they all held their heads high!! Going off to war to protect their families and their country. God be with each and everyone of you. Prayers are out for your safe return in one year. God Bless America--

Bloggers in action- Feb. 27, 2010

Last weekend was Women's Weekend here in Medford, Wisconsin. There were several workshops set up around the town with fun things for women to do. Deb and Jules set up in the Chamber office with a shop on learning how to blog. They really did their home work and came up with a good plan to teach us how to get started blogging.
Here they are waiting for some gals to show up so they can run their shop. I attended the afternoon session and had a good time. I'm still trying to figure out if I learned anything or not. It's been kind of busy around here the last couple days, haven't been on the net too much. If you want catch us at home, you better make an appointment!!!

Mardi Gras- Feb.14,2010

Yesterday at St. Paul's we had a celebration for Mardi Gras. The fellowship hall was all decked out in New Orleans fashion, and everyone was wearing strings of beads(except Grandpa.)After worship, we all went downstairs for a pizza party with the confirmation kids waiting on us. Here is Charli serving up a hot pizza. It was really yummy!!!
This is the group of youth here at St. Paul's that will be welcomed into membership in May when they will get confirmed. They are going to summer camp in upper Michigan this summer, hense the need to raise some money!! Good Job, kids!!
Charli and her friend, Cole Higgins. Ohhh!! look how shy they are!! Haaa!!
These were hanging all over in the entrance to our church, along with streamers and other little hanging things. What a fun day!! Pastor Pete said, "Who says we can't have fun when we go to church?" Well, we do here quite often!!! More fund raisers coming up---
